Kadala Curry

INGREDIENTS

Kadala – 1 cup
Ginger/Garlic paste – 1/2 tsp
Onion – 2 nos
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Chilly Powder – 2 tsp
Chicken Masala powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala Powder – 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/8 tsp
Salt – to taste
Tomatoes – 1 nos
Corriander Leaves – 1 stem
Mustard Seed – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 1 tbsp

METHOD

1) Cook channa with salt in a pressure cooker.

2) Heat oil in a pan,sputter mustard Seeds.

2)Add ginger and garlic paste and stir till brown.

3)Add chopped onions and stir, till onions are cooked.

4)Add coriander powder,Turmeric Powder,garam masala powder,Chilly Powder,Chicken Masala powder and stir, till the smell of masala powder comes out.

5)Add chopped tomatoes stir well, till the tomatoes blend well.

6)Add the cooked channa or Kadala to the masala.

7)Add salt and stir well.

8)You may add more water, if required.

9To make the gravy thick add corn starch to the curry this is optional.

Easy method for cooking Kadala

1) Cook the Channa along with all the ingredients in a pressure cooker and when the gravy become thick.

2) Add the sputter mustard seeds and fried Onion to the Curry as garnishing.

:- Serve it after garninshing with curry leaves or cilantros.

:- This dish will go fine with Puttu,Appam,Palappam,Iddiyappam etc.
